Ask Tinted Blu: Fisting

Still a very taboo area of discussion, fisting is a sexual practice that is enjoyed by both men and women.

If done safely, pleasure can be achieved by fisting both the vagina and anus.

As with everything extreme, fisting needs to be done slowly and with a lot of lubrication.

Preparation is crucial.

To reduce the risk of infection, ensure nails are cut, hands are clean and any jewellery is removed.  Remember you are not just inserting a finger, it’s a whole fist!

In a similar fashion to foreplay before intercourse, before fisting, a warm up is necessary.  One would need to be both mentally and physically ready to be fisted.

Before you begin, ensure you agree on a safe word.  Be clear on exactly what your safe words are so there is absolutely no confusion.

As mentioned before, use lots of lube if fisting a vagina.

A fisting cream may be more suited if fisting an anus because unlike a vagina, an anus is not self-lubricating and will therefore need more assistance in the lubrication department!

Take it slow and communicate throughout.

If you are receiving, reassure your giver and if you are giving, ask questions (not too many), to ensure they are comfortable with what is happening.

Once inside, make small movements and when you are ready to remove your hand, do so in the reverse to when you went in, slowly and carefully.

As with anything, being comfortable and enjoying what you are doing, is key to satisfaction.  Relax and go with the flow but most importantly, listen to your body and know when to stop.
