For our very first Tinted Blu featured interview, we caught up with the multi-talented and totes adorable; Elisha Myton.
We spoke to Elisha about her acting and singing career to date, what she is up to and of course, what is in the pipeline.
We also delved into Elisha’s personal life and found out how she feels about sex tapes, relationships, swinging from the chandeliers and whether the neighbours know her name!
Hey Elisha, thanks for taking the time to talk to us. How are you?
Hey, I’m really good thanks, can’t complain. Thank you for having me; it’s a pleasure.
So, what’s your story hon?
Well I’m an Actress, Singer, Songwriter and Poet. Right now I’m focusing primarily on my Acting – that’s my main passion, but I have a love for all of them.
Please tell us what you specialise in?
Acting – That’s really where my strength lies. So if anyone is out there looking for a Leading Lady I’m your girl lol Acting has always been a love of mine and I’ve been acting for the past 10 years. I absolutely love it and that’s my main form of release.
How long have you been acting and when did you discover you had a passion for it?
I’ve been acting from school days – from around 7years old I guess, I remember being in all the school plays and musicals. I starred in Annie, Oliver and Ali Baba to name a few. Throughout college and university acting was always a big part of my life. Acting was always fun for me – it was something I was really passionate about and enjoyed doing. I loved the fact that I could become someone else and make people actually believe I was that person. Acting is such an amazing craft.
What has been your favourite role to date and why?
Now that’s a hard one. I love challenging roles, roles that are completely different to me in real life. Any role that challenges me as an individual is what I love. I’ve had some really good roles throughout the past few years, however I guess If I had to choose only one, I’d maybe say ‘Leah’ – the role I played in the TV drama ‘Venus Vs Mars’ which aired on SkyLiving UK. Leah was a very feisty, loud, dominate female who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind or use her fists lol, but she was also quiet emotional and had a good heart.
We hear you also like to sing? What came first, the singing or the acting and is singing something you would like to pursue?
I do indeed! The singing actually came first for me. I started singing at around 6/7 years old. I absolutely loved it then and I still love it now. I often performed in talent shows, open mics and competitions, but I also really enjoyed acting and started to get into that shortly afterwards.
Ideally I would love to be able to do both but I think I would focus on the acting first and then continue on to do music. I also write my own songs so it would be AMAZING to see where that could possibly lead.
If you could sing one song on the X Factor, what would it be?
Now that’s another hard one lol hmmmm gosh putting me on the spot now! I do love Jasmine O’Sullivan, perhaps I would sing -‘ In love with another man’ or Tink ‘Somebody’.
Is there any one project or accomplishment that you regard as the most significant in your career?
I think starring in the first Black UK TV drama series ‘Venus Vs Mar’s’, was a massive achievement for me and one I am still very proud and honoured to have been a part of. TV and film is my main passion so I’d really love to do more of this.
Who would you regard as your role model and why?
My parents, in particular my Daddy. Yes I’m a little bit of a daddy’s girl lol. I think he’s achieved so much in life and both he and my mum have installed some really good morals, discipline and aspiration within me. I’ve always been very focused and driven and it’s down to both of them. I always strive to be the very best I can be and I’m extremely motivated.
Now Elisha, superpowers; all women have them, so what’s yours?
Gosh I don’t know if I have one lol
OK, it’s not quite a super power but I think it’s a great quality and hard to come by nowadays I’m very LOYAL; that’s my superpower! Lol
As of now, are you for relationships or all about having a bit of fun?
Oh I’m ol’ skool, I’m definitely ALL about relationships. I think when in a ‘good’ relationship it can be a beautiful, amazing thing.
What attracts you to a potential partner?
Loyalty is a massive thing for me. A guy who is ambitious and knows what he wants or at least has a plan; that’s very sexy. I love reliability – someone who is a man of their word and TIME is massive thing for me. My potential partner needs to be someone who will FIND the time for you. Also not forgetting someone who can be a bit silly at times and knows how to have a laugh.
What immediately turns you off in someone?
When a guy isn’t honest – that’s a major turn off for me! If I can’t trust you – then there really is no point!!
LOVE; are you for or against?
I’m ALL FOR LOVE!!!
Do you recall the first time you fell in love? How did it feel and does that person still hold a special place in your heart?
Oh gosh, yes I do still remember – seems like ages ago now lol
We are still civil with each other and we may speak once in a blue mood, but that ship has definitely sailed. We are just two very different individuals however, I will always care about him to a certain extent but that’s it really. We will always be cool!
Do you believe love can cure a roving eye?
HELL NO! If a man is going to cheat he will cheat. You can love him till the cows come home and vice versa but I don’t think love can ever stop cheating. That goes for females too!
People have been in love and STILL cheated. Sadly, people cheat for many different reasons.
Is sex on the first date ever an option?
I’m not really about that life to be honest, I like to take things slow but sometimes things can happen I guess…
Generally speaking that’s a NO NO for me!
No sex before marriage – your thoughts?
In this day and age, I think the whole sex before marriage thing is a myth. If you don’t’ satisfy your man/women then there’s always someone ready and waiting to gladly do it for you!
I think a relationship is about satisfying ALL needs – that’s on a physical, mental and emotional level. Don’t get me wrong I’m all for marriage, and one day I want to get married. My parents have been married 32 years and they’re still going strong. I just think nowadays, weddings are so expensive too, plus people tend to do things a lot later in life now.
I do admire those individuals that do follow the no sex before marriage rule but personally for me, it’s not going to happen lol
So how about when it comes to discussing your personal sex life Elisha, are you an open book or a sealed envelope?
Oh I’m definitely a sealed envelope! Don’t get me wrong I may share a little something…maybe, but definitely nothing too personal or intimate. I think all that stuff needs to stay between you and your man! No one else needs to know your business.
Totally understood!
So would you say you are a swinging-from-the-chandeliers-type-of-chick or would you rather keep it simple and stick with good ole missionary?
Ha ha uhmmm I guess I’m a ‘swinging from the chandeliers’ kinda girl! You have to keep it exciting and alive for sure lol
OK so, what’s the naughtiest thing you have ever done?
Now that would be telling lol
LOL! Alright, so Celebrity sex tapes, would you say it’s a great way of getting your name out there or a desperate call?
Personally I think it’s desperate!! I think stuff like that should be kept private for you and your Mr, not for the whole world to see.
Could you ever be enticed to make a sex tape or at best, pose for say; Playboy?
Hmmmm ….. never say never! Nah I’m joking. PLAYBOY – that’s not for me! lol
Do you believe that sex still sells best?
Whether we like it or not, SEX SELLS and I think it always will to be honest. In the entertainment world any way!
Have you ever felt pressured to appeal ‘sexually’ to your audience in order to succeed or further yourself in a situation?
I can’t really say I’ve been pressured to do anything I haven’t been comfortable with. Luckily for me I haven’t really been in a situation where I felt I had to be overly sexualised or felt uncomfortable in any way.
If you could change one thing about the way people view sex, what would it be?
Nowadays, a lot more people (especially the up and coming generation) are just having casual, meaningless sex. I think sex should be more of a personal, intimate thing – not just a random, meaningless act.
So, what’s in the pipeline for you?
I have a few projects in the pipeline. I have a theatre production on Sunday 14th August at the Lost Theatre (Wandsworth Road) called – EX-Periences; written by an amazing and talented friend of mine Delia-Rene. It’s actually sold out and should be an amazing show. I’m really looking forward to it.
I also have a Peace Concert that I will be performing another play at called; Street Girl on 17th August – run by an organisation called S.T.O.R.M. This will be held at the Clapham Grand, Clapham Junction.
And lastly, I am due to start filming for an online drama series called RealLife in a few weeks. So yep, I have my fingers in a few pies lol – It’s quiet a busy time for me right now.
